Description

In the autumn of 1999 a competition was announced between the artists Jørgen Haugen Sørensen, Erik Heide, Per Kirkeby, Jørn Larsen, Øyvind Nygård and Morten Stræde. Jørn Larsen was the winner with his circular pond in which a geometrical pattern is created on a concrete base by means of granite mouldings each 12 cm wide. There are in reality two interlinked ponds divided by the granite pattern. The landscape architect Torben Schønherr was in charge of the redesign of the square as a single, peaceful and coherent whole, in which the pond is placed as an adornment. One of the old acacias was allowed to remain standing.
